Synnisia is an open collective dedicated to mapping, narrating, showcasing, and promoting the art and artists who live on islands—starting from the Mediterranean and expanding across the world.
Synnisia is a network of connections, bringing together artists, writers, illustrators, designers, and creatives from different disciplines. Our goal is to foster collaboration in a cross-disciplinary environment, catalyzing new creative exchanges and collective projects.
Living on an island does not mean being isolated. We try to weave new dialogues between artists, and to amplify their voices beyond geographical limits.
Organized according to open-source principles and assembly-based decision-making, Synnisia is an evolving initiative. This website is our online art magazine and our first open-source project.
We are constantly open to new collaborations, discussions, and contributions. If you are an island-based creative and want to share your work, connect with like-minded individuals, or take part in new projects, we invite you to join Synnisia.
Our editorial team is mainly based on the Greek island of Syros, in the Greek Cyclades.
